So it is August now, a month past mid-year. I feel that it is important to me to revisit and reflect on my 2019 Goals, and share my honest ups and down with you.
It’s also been a while since the last time I wrote a blog post here, right? This blog page supposed to be my sharing box in the first place.
Okay then! Let’s start with these three things first: (1) the weekly youtube videos, (2) Etsy, and (3) Patreon.
Youtube hustle turned out to be exhausted for me after 10 weeks. I thought that it will get easier the more I did it, but it wasn’t for me. In the end, I need to postpone this goal, or should I say, mission.
However, in the past two weeks, I finally had the courage to do Live Lettering session through Instagram, and I’m quite liking it. Looks like I enjoy more in impulsive sharing with less preparation, than if I had to do Youtube hustling in which I had to prepare everything in advanced. Thus, it actually helps me to reduce my perfectionism.
I’m planning to do Live Lettering for the next two weeks, and then reflect again on how that would work for me. Follow me on Instagram, so you’ll get to see me do Live Lettering
I had my Etsy launched on March 2019, got one sale from a friend, and that’s it!
I still find that self marketing is a hard thing to do as I don’t want to sound too “salesy”. Instagram is my main social media for sharing my work PLUS promoting my products/services. However, I can see less engagement everytime I share a post to promote my products/services. Still a lot of research to do in self marketing
Etsy sellers got announcement by Etsy a few weeks ago, that they will prioritize sellers that can provide free shipping. It is hard for me to provide free shipping. Moreover, Etsy’s shipping function is actually not friendly for shipping through all Indonesia because only flat fee option available. Indonesia is actually as big as North America, so shipping can varied to many places and can be as expensive as sending to oversea.
With these considerations in mind, I also decided to postpone my Etsy venture, as it is not the right option for me, for now. In anyway, I’ll never know if I hadn’t tried it. I considered this as a good experience.
Currently, only two listings are available in my Etsy shop and I will keep them there until they are going to be expired in October.
I always wanted to try Patreon, and it is mainly about the money, which is not a good motivation to start with I realize that in order to have a Patreon, I need to give more value to my followers.
However, value, is a thing that I keep asking myself about. What value that am I actually giving to my followers, rather than just showing pretty lettering art? Probably none? And is that okay?
So, with this in thoughts in mind, I’m still postponing having a Patron, while I’m finding out my value proposition.
Stay tune for the Part 2
